Tables for Eight

Do you enjoy mingling with your fellow congregants after service and wish that you could get to know each other better? In January we will be continuing the small group fellowship program that was designed to satisfy this wish – Tables for Eight. Tables for Eight is a rotating dinner / fellowship program in which groups of approximately eight people share a meal at each others' homes. The program runs from January through May, and you can participate in as many or as few dinners as you wish. Additional information and sign up sheets are available in the Peace Messenger, on the table in the Narthex. Signup sheets are usually available in November and should be submitted in December. All are welcome!

Welcome (Back) Parties

We need your support for a new ministry: the Welcome (Back) Parties!

How it works:
Host families arrange for a dinner party once or twice a year. They invite one of the family units new to PoP plus a couple of other family units that have been around at PoP for a while. The Bridging Team assigns the new family units to the host families (and tries to arrange for a good "fit"); however, the host family chooses when to throw the party and whom else to invite.

Currently we are looking for families who’d be willing to host those Welcome Parties (that’s where you come in…). Again, it’s a minimal commitment. We would ask you once or twice a year to host a party for people coming new into the congregation.
Since we just received new members in the spring and have a few family units who have started to come regularly to PoP, we’d like to have some parties happening in late summer / early fall.

We invite you to become a host family:

  • Once or twice a year, the Bridging Team would ask you to host a party for a specific family unit new to PoP
  • You invite the new family unit plus a couple of other PoP people of your choice
  • You set the date and time
  • You may design the party at your discretion (Potluck? BBQ luncheon? Pool Party?)

Please let us know if you can imagine being a host family for this new ministry! Your help would be greatly appreciated! For more information or to commit, please contact Carol Gobby.
